Updates on the PEBT Call Center

We want to make school districts aware that the Mississippi PEBT Call Center will close on May 15. We began sharing this information with the public last week.

We are encouraging families to report any issues with their child’s P-EBT card that they have not already reported prior to the call center closing on May 15. After the call center closes, MDE and MDHS will continue to work with districts to resolve issues that were reported prior to May 15.

The call center hold time is currently less than 5 minutes, and the hotline number is: 1-833-316-2423.

Please feel free to share this information with your parents and families beginning tomorrow. Here is some “model” language and FAQs that you could share:

FAQs about PEBT Call Center Closure

I reported my P-EBT issue to the call center, but I’m still waiting on it to be resolved. What should I do?

If you have already reported your issue to the call center and your mailing address is up to date with your child’s school, you do not need to take further action. MDE and MDHS are working together with districts to resolve reported P-EBT issues. This will continue even after the call center closes on May 15.

Can I still report a P-EBT issue?

Yes. The hold time at the call center has been greatly reduced from the peak last fall. If you are still experiencing an issue related to P-EBT that you have not already let us know about, please call the call center at 1-833-316-2423 before May 15.

When will the P-EBT Call Center close?

The P-EBT Call Center will close on May 15. After the call center closes, MDE and MDHS staff will continue to work to resolve issues that were reported prior to the call center closing.

What should I do if I lost my child’s P-EBT card or threw it away?

Option 1: If you have already pinned your child’s P-EBT card and you remember the PIN number, you can call 1-866-512-5087 and follow the prompts to replace a lost card.

Option 2: If you have not already pinned your child’s P-EBT card or if you can’t remember the PIN number, you should call the P-EBT Hotline at 1-833-316-2423 to request a replacement card.

How long is the process to verify an address after I call the PEBT call center?

The process will take 3-4 weeks. School districts verify the new addresses, and then our card processor updates the addresses, and cards are mailed. Families should wait at least 4 weeks before calling back to the call center after requesting an address change. Cards are only sent to addresses that school districts have verified. If the district cannot verify the new address, a new card will not be sent.

Will I receive more than one benefit payment for the school year?

If their child is eligible, families will receive one benefit payment for Summer 2021 and one benefit payment for the 2020-21 School Year.

Is there a cut-off for when families can report an issue?

Not at this time. We are still working to resolve the issues for individual families as they are reported.
